The Velvet Glove of Leadership in the 2020's is an result of observing the changes in the world of work driven by the ever increasing impact of technology on work and on the workforce. The book is unique with big ideas up front, imbedded references to more detail on a given subject, and a QR Code for a YouTube channel with supporting videos.
Compounding the impact of technology was the seminal event of Covid 19 which impacted every generation in the workforce; each one differently, with the end result, in large part, still unknown.

Boomers born from 1945 to 1965. Retirement plans changed for many and for some those plans were accelerated resulting in what is now called the Great Retirement.. For others their financial plans were upended completely. The end result was the exit of about half of adults aged 55 and over, from the work force and the loss of years of experience.

Gen X born from 1965 to 1980. This generation had significant debt before Covid, with about one fourth actually seeing a decrease in income over that period. Many have recovered , but find higher salaries they now enjoy are consumed by debt.

Millennials born from 1981 to 1996. This generation may have suffered the most disruption during the pandemic with about one third suffering job loss, temporary or permanent, while older Millennials may have fared better.

Gen Z born 1997 to 2012. This generation is in school now or now beginning their work experience. Many in this generation did not experience after school work, church youth groups, school clubs and more with a profound loss of the life and work skills those may have afforded.
